Performance
“Pressure is Privilege” – Billie Jean King
December 16, 2024

When considering this quote from one of the best tennis players in history it can help athletes to reframe pressure as a helpful element towards performance excellence. To compete in any sport will bring about performance pressure and its impact varies between athletes. It can propel an athlete towards success, what ever they define as meeting this, or it can create increased anxiety resulting in a result not desired. The fact that there is pressure being experienced by an athlete signals that this is occurring due to the hard work that has got them to this very moment and they want to do their best. Specifically this very moment in time will only happen once for an athlete, therefore soak in and enjoy the pressure and recognize it will only happen once in this very way, at this very time. Let your hard work do the talking and remember to be in the moment where all performance excellence happens!
Sport as Life can support athletes to experience pressure as privilege through a variety of discussions and exercises that make this possibility become a reality. Let’s get started!
