Your Mindset, Your Life!
March 14, 2023

When we participate in sport, any sport, our mindset is going to be key in how successful we will be. Heading into competition what are the expectations? What are your goals? Are they realistic? Are they driven by the athlete or external variables? Before we even begin to perform our mindset may be dictated by these factors and many others. Dr. Carol Dweck introduced the idea of a growth mindset versus a fixed mindset in her book, ‘Mindset: The New Psychology of Success” (2006). Is your performance characterized by a mindset of possibility, opportunity and growth or a fixed mindset where variables related to performance are static, unchanging and pre-determined in nature? Developing and maintaining a growth mindset will not only motivate you to improve but will allow you to view your ability to perform with unlimited potential. Learning mental skills, related to performance, are one way to do this. Sport as Life can support athletes and teams to achieve this towards success in all aspects of life. Let’s talk soon!
